This itinerary is designed as an extension to the Seven Churches of Revelation Tour. For those seeking a broader journey through faith and heritage, we also recommend exploring our Istanbul–Cappadocia Tour.
Our guides will meet you at Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport and arrange your transfer to Kuşadası. After checking into the hotel and enjoying a welcome dinner, a seminar on the Book of Revelation by Saint John will be held. We hope you enjoy the hotel and your rooms. Overnight stay will be in Kuşadası.
After breakfast, we will go to Ephesus, the first church mentioned in the Book of Revelation. This church played an important role in the early days of Christianity. Ephesus, along with its churches, is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
Revelation 2:1
"To the angel of the church in Ephesus write..."
This ancient city will take you on an unforgettable journey into the early years of Christianity. In Ephesus, we will see: the Temple of Hadrian, the Temple of Domitian, the Temple of Serapis, the Upper Agora and Basilica, the Odeon, the Terrace Houses, the Town Hall, the Baths, the Celsus Library, and the Ancient Toilets. Additionally, the Ancient Theater, reflecting the grandeur of Ephesus with its 25,000-person capacity, is among the places to visit. This theater is the site of the riot where a merchant named Demetrius incited the public against Paul's teachings. We will experience this scene from Acts 19:23-34 in person.
Acts 19:28-30
"When they heard this, they were furious and began shouting: 'Great is Artemis of the Ephesians!' The city was in an uproar, and the crowd rushed into the theater... Paul wanted to enter, but the disciples would not let him..."
After lunch, we will visit the Basilica of Saint John, built by Emperor Justinian in the 6th century AD. Saint John lived, wrote his Gospel, and passed away here. As is known, he came to Ephesus around 37-38 AD and worked to spread Christianity.
Revelation 2:8
"To the angel of the church in Smyrna write: These are the words of him who is the First and the Last, who died and came to life again..."
We continue our journey with Smyrna (present-day Izmir), the second church mentioned in Revelation. The Ancient Agora Market will be visited, and a discussion on Faith and Nonviolent Resistance will be held.
Overnight stay will be in Pergamum
After breakfast, we go to Pergamum, where the 3rd church in Revelation is located. Pergamum rose to prominence after the death of Alexander the Great in 323 BC and was annexed by Rome in 133 BC. However, in the Book of Revelation, Jesus informs Saint John that this is "Satan's throne" and that the people must repent.
Revelation 2:12
"To the angel of the church in Pergamum write: These are the words of him who has the sharp, double-edged sword..."
The Acropolis and then the Red Basilica will be visited. After lunch, we will leave Pergamum and proceed to Akhisar district, which is Thyatira, the 4th church. Thyatira was praised for its increasing faith but criticized for its tolerance of "Jezebel."
Revelation 2:18
"To the angel of the church in Thyatira write: These are the words of the Son of God, whose eyes are like blazing fire and whose feet are like burnished bronze..."
Thyatira is an ancient Greek city founded by Seleucus I Nicator in 290 BC. It was an important settlement for the Lydian and Pergamene Kingdoms.
In the evening, we arrive in Sardis (5th church) and stay overnight.
Revelation 3:1
"To the angel of the church in Sardis write: These are the words of him who holds the seven spirits of God and the seven stars. I know your deeds; you have a reputation of being alive, but you are dead."
After breakfast, we visit Sardis, the 5th church.
We will visit the White Marble Royal Road, the Temple of Artemis, the large Gymnasium, and one of the largest synagogues of ancient times. Although it was a powerful and wealthy city in ancient times, it was described as "dead" by God in Revelation 3:1-6.
Revelation 3:7
"To the angel of the church in Philadelphia write: These are the words of him who is holy and true, who holds the key of David..."
After lunch, we proceed to Philadelphia (present-day Alaşehir). This 6th church received great praise from God. We will visit the ruins of Saint John's Church and discuss the congregation's loyalty. Afterwards, we will go to Pamukkale. Here, the 7th and last church, Laodicea, is located.
Revelation 3:14
"To the angel of the church in Laodicea write: These are the words of the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the ruler of God's creation."
Here, we will discuss the church that Saint John criticized for being "neither hot nor cold." Well-preserved structures such as the Stadium, Gymnasium, and Theater will be visited.
Overnight stay will be at a thermal hotel in Pamukkale.
After breakfast, we go to Hierapolis. It became an important Christian center through Paul's missionary activities. This city is mentioned in Colossians 4:13. The archaeological ruins will be visited.
Afterwards, we proceed to Colossae. This is where the Christian community mentioned in Philemon, one of Paul's letters, was located. While Paul gives advice in his letter to the Colossians, he emphasizes Christian brotherhood in his letter to Philemon. A discussion on these letters will be held. After lunch, we will transfer you to Adnan Menderes Airport and bid you farewell. Guests who wish can combine the tour with: Hagia Sophia in Iznik, an Istanbul city tour, or a Cappadocia tour via Konya.
After breakfast in Denizli, we travel to İznik—known in ancient times as Nicaea—an essential site in early Christian history.
Here, we visit the Little Hagia Sophia, and explore the city where the First Ecumenical Council convened in 325 AD under the order of Emperor Constantine I. This historic gathering was a milestone in the development of Christian doctrine, where the Nicene Creed was adopted, affirming the belief that Jesus Christ is of the same essence as God.
The Council also unified the celebration of Easter, establishing a common date for Christians around the world. İznik stands today as a symbol of theological unity and religious legacy.
After exploring the historical highlights, we continue to Istanbul for an overnight stay.
Following breakfast, we begin our day with a guided visit to the magnificent Hagia Sophia, an architectural marvel constructed in 537 AD by Emperor Justinian I.
Recognized as one of the most significant monuments in Christian history, Hagia Sophia was the venue of pivotal theological councils and remains one of the best-preserved symbols of Christianity from the Byzantine era.
Next, we visit the nearby Basilica Cistern, an awe-inspiring underground reservoir built in the 6th century. Supported by 336 columns, it spans over 9,800 square meters and once supplied water to the imperial palace.
After lunch, we continue to the Topkapı Palace, the former residence of Ottoman sultans, and Hagia Eirene Church, dedicated in 324 AD by Constantine the Great. Hagia Eirene also hosted the Second Ecumenical Council in 381 AD—another cornerstone in Christian history.
Dinner and overnight in Istanbul.
After breakfast, we begin the day with visits to two outstanding remnants of Byzantine civil and religious architecture: the Chora Museum and Tekfur Palace.
Tekfur Palace (Palace of the Porphyrogenitus) is one of the rare surviving examples of Byzantine secular architecture. Built in the 13th century as part of the Blachernae Palace complex, it served as a residence for emperors during the late Byzantine period.
Chora Museum, originally the Church of the Holy Saviour in Chora, dates back to the 11th century. Its 14th-century mosaics and frescoes represent some of the finest examples of Byzantine artistry. After the Ottoman conquest, it was converted into a mosque, and later, in 1945, into a museum.
We then visit the Egyptian (Spice) Bazaar, a vibrant market from the Ottoman era. With its rich scents and colorful stalls, the bazaar offers a diverse array of spices, teas, Turkish delights, dried fruits, textiles, traditional jewelry, and carpets—perfect for immersing yourself in the local culture.
After lunch, we embark on a scenic Bosphorus yacht cruise, where East meets West. Enjoy breathtaking views of Istanbul’s iconic skyline and historic waterfront, adorned with palaces such as Dolmabahçe, Çırağan, and Küçüksu Pavilion—a true open-air museum along the strait.
After breakfast, we transfer you to Istanbul Airport, marking the end of our journey filled with spiritual depth, architectural splendor, and unforgettable memories.
