Istanbul has hosted many civilizations throughout history and is a unique mosaic of culture and history. The city dates back to the 7th century BC, specifically to 667 BC when it was founded by the Megarian King Byzas under the name Byzantion. Due to its strategic location, it quickly gained importance. During the Roman Empire, Emperor Constantine rebuilt the city in 330 AD, naming it Constantinople and declaring it the new capital of the Roman Empire.
Connecting the continents of Europe and Asia, Istanbul was the heart of the Byzantine Empire for centuries. After being conquered by Sultan Mehmed the Conqueror in 1453, it became part of the Ottoman Empire. Thus, it became a meeting point of East and West, past and future.
This cultural journey offers a perfect blend of history, architecture, nature, and local experiences. Throughout the tour, you will visit UNESCO World Heritage Sites in both Istanbul and Cappadocia, exploring remarkable landmarks from the Byzantine, Roman, and Ottoman eras. Accommodation is arranged in comfortable, high-quality hotels, including a boutique cave hotel that reflects the unique character of Cappadocia. Each day begins with a traditional Turkish breakfast and ends with a delicious dinner, giving you the chance to enjoy authentic regional cuisine.
Your trip will be fully supported with VIP airport and hotel transfers, and you will be accompanied by a professional, English-speaking guide who will enrich your understanding of each destination. The tour offers a balance between urban culture and rural tranquility, allowing you to experience the vibrancy of Istanbul and the otherworldly landscapes of Cappadocia. You’ll also have the chance to join optional activities such as a sunrise hot air balloon ride, jeep safari, horseback riding, or local cooking workshops. A scenic Bosphorus cruise will take you between two continents, while your time in Cappadocia will include visits to ancient cave churches, pottery villages, and stunning valleys carved by nature.
The tour is organized for groups of a minimum of 20 and a maximum of 40 participants.
The tour starts with your arrival in Istanbul and some free time to relax. You’ll explore major historical landmarks such as Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and the Basilica Cistern, followed by a Bosphorus cruise and visits to hidden gems like the Chora Museum and Spice Bazaar. After flying to Cappadocia, you’ll visit highlights like the Göreme Open Air Museum, Avanos, and Zelve Valley. Panoramic viewpoints, a monastery walk, and the charming village of Mustafapasa complete your Cappadocia experience. The tour ends with a transfer to the airport for your return flight.
Depending on your arrival time, we will meet you at Istanbul Airport or Sabiha Gökçen Airport and transfer you to your hotel.
Guests arriving early will have free time to explore the surroundings or enjoy the amenities of the 5-star hotel.
After breakfast, we begin a city tour program, guided or self-guided depending on your preference.
Our first stop is the Hagia Sophia, the center of Christian doctrine.
Built in 537 AD by Byzantine Emperor Justinian I, this structure is one of the largest religious monuments in the world. It holds great significance for Christianity, as the First Ecumenical Council was held here, and the Nicene Creed was accepted here.
Next, we visit the nearby Basilica Cistern.
With its atmospheric lighting, the mystical ambiance of the cistern resembles an art gallery. Built in the 6th century by Justinian I, this massive underground structure was designed to meet the city’s water needs. Covering approximately 9,800 square meters, the cistern is supported by 336 columns. The Medusa head columns inside are among the most striking elements.
After a lunch break, we visit Topkapi Palace and the Church of Hagia Irene.
Built in 324 AD by Constantine, Hagia Irene was the first church in Istanbul and made significant contributions to the religious heritage of Byzantium. Additionally, the Second Ecumenical Council held here in 381 marked a major milestone in Christian history.
Dinner will be served at the hotel.
After breakfast, we visit the Chora Museum and Tekfur Palace.
Tekfur Palace is one of the rare surviving examples of Byzantine civil architecture. Also known as the Palace of the Porphyrogenitus, it was likely built during the reign of Michael VIII in the 13th century and was part of the Blachernae Palace complex. During the Ottoman period, it was referred to as “Tekfur” (Christian lord/prince) and now serves as a museum.
The Chora Museum is a significant religious structure from the Byzantine era. Built in the 11th century, the building was adorned with mosaics and frescoes in the 14th century. These decorations are among the finest examples of Byzantine art. After the conquest of Istanbul, it was converted into a mosque, turned into a museum in 1945, and then back into a mosque in 2020.
Next, we go to the Spice Bazaar, which was established during the Ottoman period.
Here, you can feel the authentic atmosphere of the 1400s while shopping for spices, dried fruits, Turkish delight, tea, and other traditional Turkish sweets. Traditional jewelry, carpets, and textile products can also be found here.
In the afternoon, we take a yacht tour on the Bosphorus.
This unique strait, separating Europe and Asia, offers natural beauty and historical landmarks. The first scenery you’ll admire on this tour is the silhouette of Istanbul stretched across the magical waters of the Bosphorus. Historical mansions, waterfront palaces, and summer residences appear in view. Dolmabahce Palace, Ciragan Palace, and Kucuksu Pavilion are among the magnificent structures along the route.
You will be transferred from Istanbul Airport or Sabiha Gökçen Airport and depart for Cappadocia. Upon arrival, free time will be provided.
Cappadocia was formed millions of years ago from soft layers of ash and lava spewed by Mount Erciyes, Mount Hasan, and Mount Göllüdağ, which were eroded over time by wind and rain.
The name “Cappadocia” first appears in Persian records from the 6th century BC as “Katpatuka.” Although the origin of the word is uncertain, some experts suggest it means “Low Country” in Luwian.
Guests may optionally join a hot air balloon tour at sunrise the following morning.
After breakfast, we visit the Göreme Open Air Museum. The Christian frescoes in the rock-carved churches here are fascinating.
Then we go to Avanos, a town famous for its pottery. While visiting ceramic workshops, we enjoy the view of the sacred Kızılırmak River.
After lunch, we continue to Zelve Valley, which is home to many monasteries.
Dinner and overnight stay in Cappadocia.
After breakfast, we take a short nature walk accompanied by a local meal at an 11th-century monastery.
Then we visit some of Cappadocia’s most beautiful panoramic points, including Pigeon Valley, Uchisar Viewpoint, Avcilar Valley, and Goreme Valley. *Guests may optionally join a Jeep Safari Tour.
After lunch, we head to Sinassos (Mustafapasa).
This village is the birthplace of Saint Basil and Saint Gregory of Nyssa. We visit the Orthodox church and stroll through the historic streets.
