This 7-day self-guided trekkingtour is specially designed for those who want to explore the easternroute of the Lycian Way. This adventure, starting from the enchantingcoasts of the Mediterranean and extending to the impressive plateausof the Taurus Mountains, offers participants a combination of bothhistorical and natural beauties. On this journey from Karaöz toAdrasan, Çıralı to Tekirova, you will have the opportunity toexplore ancient cities, relax in unique bays and taste local flavors.
On this tour, you will undertake hikes of varying difficulty levels (moderate and challenging), and you will need to be prepared for long walks in forested areas on some days. On this route where historical and natural beauties intertwine, you will discover the coastline of the Mediterranean and the plateaus of the Taurus Mountains. During your stays, you will be hosted in local guesthouses and have the opportunity to get to know the local culture.
Trekking on the path where history and nature meet. Starting from the deep blue coasts of the Mediterranean and reaching the cool plateaus of the Taurus Mountains, we are heading from the tranquility of Karaöz to the untouched bays of Adrasan on the Lycian Way. On this route, you will experience the ancient spirit of Olympos in Çıralı, and the integration with nature in the Beycik forests and Kuzdere-Göynük plateaus. Both nature and history will welcome you among the stone walls of the ancient Olympos, one of the important cities of the Lycian League.
Our team will meet you at Antalya Airport. Depending on your flight time, you will be transferred to your accommodation in Karaöz. If your flight is late or if you would like to stay an extra 1-2 nights in the historical Kaleiçi district of Antalya, this is also possible. Your free time will begin after checking into the hotel.
If you arrive in Karaöz early, you can relax in Menallipe Bay (Korsan Bay) and prepare for the long hike the next day.
After breakfast, we start our hike from Karaöz to Adrasan. This region stands out with its natural beauties and historical importance with Gelidonya Lighthouse and Menallipe Bay. With its clean air, views and forests, it is one of the favorite spots for nature lovers. The Gelidonya Lighthouse, 227 meters high, is the highest lighthouse on the Turkish coast and takes its name from "Kaledonya", which means "swallow" in the Lycian language. You can capture unforgettable frames at the photo point.
When you reach Adrasan, we will welcome you with the warm colors of the Mediterranean at our boutique hotel on the beach.
The route between Adrasan and Çıralı is a challenging trail. Since there is no water source in the forest area, you need to carry enough water and food for the approximately 8-hour walk. Before leaving Adrasan in the morning, you can have the opportunity to swim in the sea. Those who wish can spend time in the restaurants by the Adrasan River. Afterwards, we continue to Çıralı via the Lycian Way.
When you reach the forest summit, you will encounter a large valley view - this point is ideal for photos and a break. Then we descend towards the ancient city of Olympos. The frames you see in the photo were taken in Olympos.
Your luggage will be transferred before arrival. We are spending the night in Çıralı.
It is a day of rest after a challenging hike. During this time, you can take a short walk to Yanartaş. The constantly burning flames formed by natural gases coming out of the ground offer an impressive view, especially at sunset. We highly recommend the ancient city of Olympos for history enthusiasts. Did you know that the name "Olympics" comes from Olympos? A short legend from Homer:
Bellerophontes fights Chimera with his winged horse Pegasus. As Chimera attacks, Pegasus takes off, and Bellerophontes stabs his spear into the monster, burying it seven layers underground. However, Chimera continues to burn. The flames in Yanartaş are this legendary fire.
A race is held in Olympos to celebrate the victory. Athletes light their torches from the sacred fire of Chimera and run to Olympos. Thus, the first "Olympic Torch" in Anatolia was born.
You can take a walk on Çıralı beach and enjoy the sea. We are spending the night in Çıralı again.
After breakfast, we set off from Çıralı to Beycik, passing through the high plateaus on the Lycian Way. Located on the sea-facing slope of Tahtalı Mountain, Beycik Plateau stands out with its greenery and nature. While staying at our guesthouse, which is imbued with local culture, the taste of traditional Turkish dishes is even more beautiful with the fresh air.
After breakfast, we transfer to Çıralı. From here, we start walking to Tekirova via the Lycian Way. This route, which runs along the coast, offers plenty of photo opportunities. Passing through turquoise waters and pine forests, you will reach Kıral Bay and Maden Bay. Maden Bay attracts attention with its archaeological richness as well as its natural beauties. The ancient city of Phaselis is located in both the Lycian and Pamphylia regions. In the 5th century BC, it was under Persian rule, and in the 4th century BC, it was under the rule of the Caria Satrap Mausolos and the Lycian King Pericles. In 333 BC, they welcomed Alexander the Great with a crown. In 167 BC, they joined the Lycian League, and in 43 BC, they were annexed to Rome.
We are spending the night in Tekirova. If you complete the walk early, we recommend visiting Phaselis, which is 5 km away.
We start the walk from Padol Kardeşlik Bridge in Tekirova. In the first part, you walk along the Kumlu (İnciryalısı) beach, passing by Sundance Resort. At the end of the scenic coastal walk, you reach the ancient city of Phaselis.
Along the ancient street starting from Hadrian's Gate and extending to the northern ports, the remains of the agora, Roman baths and theater await you. The walk continues through forest paths. After passing a seasonal water source, you reach Böğürtlenliöz Hill. This is a great spot for a short break and scenery. Then, the walk ends in Aşağı Kuzdere, among pine forests and orange groves at the foothills of the Beydağları.
After the walk, you will be transferred to your hotel in Kemer. You can relax in the Turkish bath at the hotel and sip your drink by the pool.
After breakfast, we pick you up from Göynük Plateau and transfer you to Antalya Airport with an approximately 1 hour and 30-minute journey, depending on your flight time. We look forward to welcoming you again to explore the other routes of the Lycian Way.
